Almost everyone has had to budget at one point in their life. You may have thought about designing a budget to keep your expenses in check. It always helps to keep extra savings for that rainy day. However, not everyone manages to stick within their budgets. No matter how well designed or thought out your budget is, achieving your target will depend on your discipline to keep to the agreed amount. Thus, most people give up on their budgets as soon as they start. But how do you ensure that you have the required discipline to keep to your budget? Tips • Documentation The best way to ensure you stick to your targets is documenting the progress you are making. Documentation will challenge you and have you motivated at the same time. If you begin to slack off, the increased costs will ensure you bring your expenses down. Also, when you see the progress you are making with regards to budgeting, you will be motivated to continue on the same path. Any form of documentation can be used to make a record of your income and outgoings, including a daily journal, video recordings or even audio recordings. • Automation Another tip when you want to stick to your budget is automating your daily activities. When you automate all your finances, there is no way you will end up with expenses that will not have been budgeted for. Have a strict schedule for your day and ensure you stick to it. You cannot budget for your finances successfully without making provisions for your personal life. Therefore, your schedule and budget go hand in hand. Minimise unplanned activities in your day as much as possible and ensure all your activities are provided for. • Realistic Goals When preparing budgets, most people get carried away and prepare unrealistic goals for themselves. This will only end up in failure. Be realistic about what you want to achieve with your budget. Do not make huge targets that cannot be easily accomplished. Like any other targets in life, budgeting works best with small victories. Set small targets that you can easily achieve. This will keep you motivated in accomplishing bigger budget savings. Do not put too much pressure on yourself. • Rewarding Yourself An important way to motivate yourself is by rewarding yourself once you have attained your target, which should be easily manageable. When you work hard without rewards you will lose the discipline to help you succeed.

The internet has a knack for joining people from around the globe and linking local communities together. When surfing the web, one can do a number of things like buy used products, find jobs, and though seemingly extreme, share houses.
Now, a commuter can share parking spots that are closer to their work, for sports games or concerts. These services, which can be easily found on the web, are designed link those with a parking space to those who need one.
This comes as a welcome relief to those who waste time looking for a spot every morning and commuting time can be greatly reduced. Parking fees tend to be high, depending on the location, but finding spots to rent around the city are found at competitive prices – around £15.
If you are interested, the first thing to think about is the desired parking location. A handy spot may be available close to work or close to a big event, where spots are hard to come across. Finding them is simple, as various sites lists all locations, times, fees and may even have communication services.
For London commuters, this is perfect because if you live near a busy working area and leave your parking space vacant, you can make some money off it, as well as finding somebody else offering a place near your work. Parking rates are based on daily, weekly and monthly needs. Popular locations include Wembley Stadium, Twickenham Stadium, King's Cross Station or O2 Arena.
This type of parking offers many benefits for all types of drivers. Female drivers have the option of parking on private roads to ensure safe access to their cars at night. To avoid valet parking fees, try parking the car in a local neighbourhood.
To find out more, give it a simple search on the internet and you could soon be saving time, money and lowering those stress levels.

Do you have a closet full of books? If you don’t want or need them, why not turn all of those hard covers and paperbacks into cash? On the website Amazon there are just a few simple steps to sell an old textbook or a not so loved novel from long ago. First, click Sell on Amazon at the bottom of the main page. Have the book title and description ready, such as paperback, hardback, edition, ISBN number and large or small print. Search by the exact title and description. Add information on the condition of the book (new, slightly used, etc.) and any additional comments valuable to the buyer. Don’t worry about speculating over the value of your books, Amazon offers a list price and lets you know what you are up against. Ultimately pricing is entirely up to you. You can pitch your prices according to this website list price. Now obviously, to sell there must be a competitive price; no one will spend 10 pounds on your tatty annotated school copy of The Great Gatsby. Cheaper books are placed at the top of the list, so that buyers see those books first, which are more likely to be sold. Additionally, set the shipping method: whether you want to handle shipping personally or have Amazon handle all of customer service extras. In addition there are several other used book websites where a supplier can put books up for sale: Half, Bookfinder, and Alibris to name but a few. This latter site is specifically interested in rare and out of print books – so don’t throw books away that you think are of no interest or too worn. Don’t forget that books are not the only product that can sell twice in the used market. DVDs, CDs and even musical instruments can be dusted down, registered in the same way and sold on to a very grateful customer.

For Love of Dogs

It’s official: walking dogs is now a glamorous job - Hollywood has made it so. On the other hand, dog walking does not have to take place just in big cities like New York or San Francisco. Dog walking can take place in your local neighbourhood. The opportunity to turn this job into small business exists here in Britain too – small or big, the size depends on the manager. Get creative with a flyer to pass out to local neighbours and passers-by seen with dogs. Use the flyer to outline your experience with animals, your love for dogs, past small business experience and how you are able to cater to the dog’s specific needs. You could also offer a trial walk, so that both parties get a feel for the business. This information ensures the owner feels safe in the knowledge their dog will be taken care of, thereby securing good references and subsequently increasing revenue. Get familiar with the logistics of running a business. Determine how big the business will be. Will it be small enough to be managed and carried out by one person, or larger where you will need more than one employee? Set hours to fit in with the owners’ personal time. Hours could be one long available time slot or two slots split between the morning and the afternoon. Decide how to manage financial matters. It’s important to charge a fixed fee per walk and additional charges for special cases, which may include: walking multiple dogs, special instructions, dealing with aggressive breeds etc. Remember that establishing a client base is important. Start with neighbours and friends, who know they can trust you. Once you’ve established a reputation as a safe pair of hands, people will recommend you to their acquaintances. In addition, pet sitting is a popular trend that could bring in more income. Dog lovers are likely to go on holiday just as much as they are likely to need a dog walker, and if they trust you in walking their dog, it’s likely that they’ll trust you to look after their house.

Better Grades, Smaller Budget

Saving money while at university is essential for a number of reasons. Besides needing funds for tuition costs, having a newly independent lifestyle creates new expenses. An increase in food costs, transportation and housing means new students have to keep on top of their finances. The following simple habits will reward the student in the long term, creating less debt.
Tuition is the big kicker, but scholarships can reduce the bill significantly. Search for one matching your qualifications, write and submit an application essay, and cross your fingers for a positive response.
Text books are necessary in almost all classes, but look to the library before buying a new copy. Libraries usually have several copies of key texts. Make copies of different sections and split the cost with a classmate. Used copies can be found in second hand shops or even online (usually with low delivery costs.)
Image is definitely not everything when you're doing a degree. Sacrifice buying new, fashionable clothes and just continue to use the ones you have. Look for used clothes at the local thrift. Looking cuter than someone else is not as important as having money for lunch.
The temptation is constantly there, but do not register for a credit card. Credit card companies target university students specifically, as they know their desperate financial situation. Spending becomes very tempting when there is “free money” at hand, but the fee, interest and payback burdens are not worth the headache.
When collaborating with flat mates, look to buy in bulk. Necessities like paper for the kitchen or bathroom, bread and beer are much cheaper for the individual when a few pool together and buy in large quantities.
In regards to beer, do not consume a lot of alcohol. Yes, studying for exams is stressful, but alcohol is expensive and takes a toll on your physical and mental health. You'll be better prepared for an exam with more money, more hydration and less work on your liver – then you can blow out at the end of term knowing you've given it your best shot.

Some airlines offer special discounts during mid-season. Avoid travelling on weekend because chances of getting discounted airfare on weekends are very less. By booking in advance, you can avail early-bird discounts. If you are planning to hire car rental services, there are ways to save money. Hire the car only for those days when you will be really using it. While booking the car in advance, book it only from the day you will start using it to the last day of your use. If you search online, you can also get car rental coupons which offer you up to 60% discounts. For accommodation, try and book an apartment instead of a hotel. The amount of money you spend for apartments is just as much as you would for hotels. In hotels, you have to shell out extra for food. The internet has brought about a huge revolution in business. Entrepreneurs looking for profit are switching to e-commerce. It is not at all easy to launch a successful e-commerce website. It is a common misconception that once you launch a site, you can start selling services and products online immediately. You need to dedicate a lot of time and put in a lot of hard work for the same. For a dotcom business to be successful, there are a few rules, which if followed, can help to make you a success. Rule 1: Choosing the Product Choosing the product wisely is a golden rule. Choose products that can be packaged easily and transported quickly. Do not go for products that are perishable, fragile or inflammable. Choose products that can shipped easily without any damage. Rule 2: User-Friendly Websites The usability of your e-commerce website depends on the ease with which users can navigate through the website. Most people hesitate to shop online because they are not well-versed with the art. Hence, make the site as user-friendly as possible to get maximum traffic. Rule 3: Credit Card Security Most users shop online using credit cards. Hence, you must ensure that the credit card information of the user such as card number password is protected from fraud. This is very important both from success as well as law point of view. Rule 4: Automating Automate your website right at the beginning. You can also do this step, in phases. Automation helps you to streamline the order processing. Rule 5: Customer Support 24/7 customer support is an absolute necessity. It helps build trust and loyalty. Prompt reply to e-mails and all other correspondences show that you care for the customers. Rule 6: Marketing Campaign Marketing and creating awareness about your website is as important as creating a website. No one will be aware of the existence of the website unless you market it and make people know of its existence. Therefore, have a good marketing strategy in place. Rule 7: Retain Customers Retain the existing customers rather than continuously looking for new customers. Offer them discounts and other loyalty services so that they would prefer you site to other websites. Rule 8: Innovation Be aware of customer needs. Gather information about their expectations and make changes in your website accordingly. Keep the site innovative and make it interesting. This will automatically increase traffic to your site.
